Reliable cable calculations for West Burton Power Station

Lawton Electrical's contract with FLS Miljo to cable the Flue Gas Desulphurisation Project at West Burton Power Staion, valued at £3M, required them to provide cable calculations for all cables. The client provided a full cable schedule for tendering purposes. There were almost 1500 power cables. Lawton's contractual requirements did not require them to include the protective device in cable calculations and the MCC manufacturer was not required to consider cable length parameters.
The Consulting Engineers STEAG, overseeing the project for the end client, immediately accepted the AMTECH cable reports due to their conformity to BS 7671 2001.
By using AMTECH ProDesign and providing the client with complete calculations, Lawton identified errors in protective device selection and CPC sizing. They prevented the embarrassment of their client providing some unsafe circuits.
