IMPORTANT FastTest and FastTest Mobile updates now available

To prevent certificate data loss please ensure that all FastTest Mobile certificates are transferred to the desktop version of FastTest BEFORE downloading and installing either the desktop or mobile updates.

FastTest Desktop users (Standalone and Network)
Backup your FastTest Desktop database, select File > Backup and then save it somewhere safe.
- Click on the link below and select Save and save it to the Desktop of your PC. This file is 249MB and so it may take several minutes to download.
- Once downloaded, make sure that FastTest is closed on your PC.
- Double Click the file FT10SP1P1.exe on the Desktop.
- Allow the update to install. Once completed the installation will disappear off the screen (it will not state that is has completed as this is an automatic update.)
- Launch FastTest on the PC and login as the FastTest administrator. You will then be prompted to convert the database, select Begin. This may take a few minutes to complete, once complete you will be able to continue using the Desktop as normal.
If you use FastTest Mobile on the PDA as well, then please follow these instructions.
FastTest users connected to Server Database
Backup the FastTest Server database, by going to Start > Programs > Amtech Power Software > Backup Restore Utility. Log in and then select Backup, save the file somewhere safe on the server.
After installing Service Pack 1 Patch 1 for your desktop version of FastTest 2009 17th Edition you should follow these steps:
- Launch ‘My Computer’ or ‘Windows Explorer on the desktop PC’
- Navigate to the FastTest 2009 program folder, which will typically be in the default installation file path (indicated below), unless you have physically changed the location:
C:\Amtech2009\FastTest\FastTest Server Setup\ FT10SP1P1Server.exe - Copy this file to the server
- Double Click the file to install the update.
- Once installed, log in to FastTest as the FastTest administrator on the Client machine (that already has had the patch applied) and click on the Begin button to update the Server and Local databases.
FastTest Mobile users
Once you have transferred certificates from the PDA to the Desktop, on the PDA go to Start > Settings > System and then select Remove Programs. Highlight Amtech FastTest Mobile and select Remove Program.
Once this has been removed connect the PDA to the Desktop and make sure it is synchronized.
To install the FastTest Mobile update
After installing Service Pack 1 Patch 1 for your desktop version of FastTest 2009 17th Edition you should follow these steps:
- Make sure that your PDA is connected and synchronized with the PC.
- Launch ‘My Computer’ or ‘Windows Explorer on the desktop PC’
- Navigate to the FastTest 2009 program folder, which will typically be in the default installation file path (indicated below), unless you have physically changed the location:
For FastTest Mobile
C:\Amtech2009\FastTest\FastTest Mobile Setup
For FastTest Domestic Mobile
C:\Amtech2009\FastTest\FastTest Domestic Mobile Setup
- You will find one of the following files:
FastTestMobileSetup.msi
FastTestDomesticSetup.msi - Double click on the relevant file to install the FastTest 2009 Service Pack 1 Patch 1 Mobile update.
- Follow the on screen instructions to install the update on your PDA.
- Once the PDA has been updated you will need to synchronise the database with the Desktop. To do this, simply launch FastTest on the Desktop and then select any Draft certificate by single clicking the row number to highlight it in the Existing Certs Browser and then click the Mobile Export button.
- Select Export to Mobile Device.
- Once Data has transferred successfully, launch FastTest Mobile on the PDA and you should see the exported certificate. FastTest Mobile is now ready to use.
