New Data Security
You are now more protected than ever with FastTest’s improved security features. With a user login you can set your user permissions, enabling you give more access to those who need it and restrict those who don’t… you’re in control! Logos and signatures can now be saved onto the database, enabling only authorised users to view or edit. These new improved security features protect against the misuse of
personal details giving you peace of mind that your data is protected.
New Certificate Assistant
This clever feature allows you to find Boards, view attachments for the certificates or installation, see which engineers worked on each board and Board print orders within a certificate, much easier and quicker.
Recent Certificate Quick Link
This amazing time saving feature enables you to view a list of the ten most recent certificates opened or created. Saving you time searching your database, this can be accessed from the quick view drop down list on the browser, it’s never been quicker or easier to access recently used certificates!
Improved Existing Certificate Browser
The certificate browser has been re-designed to give you greater flexibility when using the application. It has been designed to improve navigation with a cleaner and fresher look, which will help you locate what you need quickly and easily. It’s now even easier to use, with new icons which are much more self explanatory and a new tabbed view. All user settings are now easier to access. The pre-defined tabs enable you to access your draft, master or all certificates.
Auto Observations & Recommendations
Now, when you make an Earth Loop Impedance error you will automatically receive an observation/recommendation saving you valuable time correcting the error.
New Certificate Wizard
FastTest now allows you more flexibility when creating new certificates. For an existing installation, you will have the option to include the Board & Circuit details along with the Supply Characteristics & Particulars of the Installation, which is a huge time saver.
New certificates for new installations will also allow you to define the Main Board phase identification, number of ways on the first board and the number of additional boards in the installation.
When you create a new certificate FastTest will search for all draft certificates previously created and allow to you to select an existing one or create a new one.
This is a unique feature, which will save you time and reduce certification duplicity. This feature can also be used on templates.
Improved Logo Browser
You can now add up to three logos per company or Governing Body. This feature enables you to choose from a selection of customised logos when printing a certificate, report, mail merge letter or a board viewer print, a great time saving feature!
You can now automatically re-size your logos and save them to a central database giving you more control adding logos to certificates and reports.
Improved Printing Options
The printing dialog has been improved to make the printing options much easier to use. Tabs include General, Colour, Logos and Attachments. You can also view the logos within the dialog and choose between the different available logos.
Economy Printing Option
You now have the option to change the colour of text and section headers on all certificates and reports, giving you more control over the look of your documents. You can now choose ‘Econo-copy’, which will automatically print your document in black and white, so you can reduce the impact of your company’s carbon footprint.

Compliance with 17th Edition
Get right up to date with the 17th Edition Wiring Regulations. NEW ProDesign has been re-written to incorporate the latest IEE Wiring Regulations, which will take effect in 2008. You can be confident that when using ProDesign you will be working to the latest Regulations
A new version of BS 7671 (Requirements for Electrical Installations) will be published in 2008. This 17th Edition version is considered to be the most far reaching update to the Wiring Regulations since the 16th Edition was issued in 1992. The process of electrical design will change as a result of BS 7671:2008. ProDesign 2008 will help you make the seamless transition to the 17th Edition. Here are some of the many 17th Edition changes in ProDesign 2008:
New Cable Installation Options
BS 7671:2008* now has more than double the amount of cable installation methods including descriptions and images of all the installation methods, helping you get to grips with the new options.
Cable Grouping
BS 7671:2008* includes far more detailed cable grouping tables. These tables, which include images, will be fully represented in ProDesign 2008.
A separate ‘Grouping’ tab has been introduced to allow you to define paralleled and grouped cables more easily. The resulting grouping factor (Cg) is immediately reported on screen.
17th Edition Voltage Drop Module
One of the most significant major changes introduced by BS 7671:2008* is the revised suggested voltage drop limits. The simple 4% rule has been replaced by a table of voltage drop limits. The choice of voltage drop limit in the 17th Edition depends on the following factors:
- Type of load (e.g. lighting or fixed equipment)
- Type of supply (i.e. public or private)
- Length of wiring system (extra allocation is allowed for certain lengths of wiring system)
ProDesign 2008 provides a simple way of handling the more complex voltage drop requirements of BS 7671:2008*.
